Sunday Night

Mona Gallery – a unique, confronting, world class cultural experience with an architectural style beyond description.

As part of our goal to make The Event an experience rather than static lectures we have negotiated a private viewing at Mona Gallery, Tasmania’s premier cultural attraction.

Delegates will be transferred by ferry long the Derwent River to Mona Gallery. After a two hour private viewing of Mona delegates will guided down to the gallery for the welcoming reception. Fingerfood and Beverages included.

At the conclusion delegates will enjoy an evening cruise back to Franklin Wharf, Hobart for a short stroll to the hotel.

$120.00 includes transport by boat to and from the Mona Gallery, Gallery tour, Fingerfood and Beverages.

Flavio Bandiera

Flavio Bandiera was born in 1970. From his first childhood memories his life has been surrounded by photography thanks to his father Stefano who is an affirmed landscape and advertising photographer. Flavio is a lover of art, literature and music, after his studies he begins his professional career by working as an assistant in various photographic environments: portraits, still-life and advertising.

His approach to wedding photography comes about almost by chance in the mid 90′s and this becomes his passion, seeking a more realistic and immediate approach complied to that offered by fashion and costume, he finds in this art the perfect mixture between stylistic rigour and expressive spontaneity. In successive years he works with passion with the conviction of the value of the documental and artistic value of his shots making this become his career.

A declared elegance, a descriptive language full of details, an intimacy in which it is possible to identify oneself in another dimension. His inspirations sum up to minimalistic and conceptual ideas that collect the spirits of those wishing to escape from common and stereotype situations.

His shots don’t allow easiness nor simplicity. On the contrary Flavio Bandiera’s style is refined, almost intransigent, spontaneous but emotional at the same time, in which light, shape and colour express the interior elegance to all those who have decided to entrust Flavio to document their most important day.

“After a lot of years of research I believe to have found a dimension in which I’m represented. If I was asked to describe my style I would define it as fusion because it melds beauty and emotion together in order to create three distinctive photographic forms: spontaneous, contemporary and classic.”

Flavio is founder of the exclusive Best of Wedding Photography, which counts on the best wedding photographers in the world, and ANFM the first National Association for Wedding Photographers in Italy. Copyright is often the most misunderstood tool in our contract and day to day work practice. As each day more and more consumers and clients become involved with the images we shoot, understanding exactly what we can expect and ask of those people is essential to good relations and avoiding conflict.
Can someone shoot over your shoulder and use that image, what is the difference between copyright and IP, does copyright grant an automatic model release from the subject.

Copyright Agency I Viscopy Copyright Agency is a not-for-profit organisation that collects and distributes copyright fees and royalties for text and images. Copyright Agency was also appointed by the Commonwealth Attorney-General in 1990 to manage the statutory licence in the Copyright Act 1968 for the educational use of text and images across schools and tertiary institutions in Australia. Virginia has many years of experience in the field of copyright law having also worked as an independent copyright consultant and a senior lawyer with the Australian Copyright Council. She has also worked in private practice at two of Australia’s leading law firms and has lectured in entertainment law at Southern Cross University. Virginia has degrees in Arts and Law from UNSW.

Philip Kuruvita

Tasmania’s only Grand Master of Photography and one of just 15 in Australia, he has won numerous awards and distinctions for his work both here and overseas. Philip is consistently asked to judge at the Australian Professional Photography Awards and his images have been accepted into the prestigious AIPP Travelling Exhibition, the ACMP Australian Photographers Collection and the global M.I.L.K. Photography Collection.

Philip was awarded the distinction of Grand Master of Photography by the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) in 2012. In June 2009 he was honoured with a Fellowship of the AIPP, and is also a Fellow of the NZIPP.

He has been named Tasmanian Professional Photographer of the Year in 5 times. He was also named Tasmanian Wedding Photographer of the Year in 2008. He has served on the Board of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography as Chairman (2006-2008), President (2004-2006) and Vice-President (2001-2004).

Philip has spoken at conferences and workshops in Australia, New Zealand and America, has published books, and adheres to a regular schedule of exhibitions of his work which includes the continuing “Faces of Launceston” series.
