The Workshops

We are pleased to present a range of workshops that should offer some unique experiences, regrettably they are all limited in numbers.

This year we aim to give delegates a better experience in relating to what the presenter will be demonstrating, to do this we hope to use Capture Pilot linked to Capture One software that the bulk of presenters will be using.
Capture pilot is a free APP that will allow delegates to see on their iPhone or iPad what the photographer has just shot in fine detail and alleviate past problems of delegates trying to see a preview on the back of a presenters camera.

Each workshop comes with its own unique overhead ( buses, models, venue hire etc) and for that reason the cost of workshop varies to accommodate that overhead.

Monday 27th

6.00am to 8.00am

Mike Langford Commercial Resort Workshop Mike will start pre dawn and walk delegates through the process of identifying the “hero exterior angle” of the resort explaining what he looks for to get an image that works for the resort and the designer. The workshop will then move inside to shoot an interior. Tim Bauer Commercial Lighting Workshop Tim will demonstrate practical use of lighting in a number of  studio and external set ups, illustrating how to use both available light, alternate light and studio lighting to maximize the impact of any image. Vicki Bell Fine Art Portrait Workshop This will be a two part workshop Part 1 – Vicki will explain and demonstrate the creative process, tools and props she uses to create her unique fine art portraiture. This will be a live shoot and delegates can use their own cameras. Part 2 – Vicki will move into The Event  computer lab and work with delegates to explain the techniques she uses in photoshop to create the end results. 2.00pm to 6.30pm

…………………………………………………………………………………… Urs Buhlman Advertising Location Workshop This will be an off site workshop. We will transfer delegates by coach to a surprise location where Urs will explain his technique and thought process as he constructs a dynamic image. This workshop is likely to run through to Dusk. …………………………………………………………………………………. Marcus Bell Wedding workshop This will be an off site work shop. We will transfer by bus delegates to a nearby chapel and reception venue where Marcus will demonstrate creative posing and lighting and as we push into dusk also demonstrate low light photography. Tuesday 28th

…………………………………………………………………………………. Dr Les Walkling The Digital Fine Print Workshop This hands-on workshop concentrates on the production of prints in a professional colour managed workflow. The aim is to promote and facilitate the printing of digital files to the highest level of perfection. The experience of printing your own files on state-of-the-art equipment with the finest materials is what this workshop is all about. Note: This session will be conducted on Mac computers Topics include: • Depth, dimensionality and presence in a digital print • File size (ppi) and printer resolution (dpi) • Fine art, rag, baryta and resin-coated papers • Colour managing epson wide gamut archival inkjet printing • Profiling printers, inksets and media • Output sharpening techniques • Softproofing digital images • Optimising printer driver settings • Lighting and viewing digital prints • Putting it all together: Developing a fine art printing workflow Limit 24 Cost $75 Learn more about Les Morning session Sold Out still space in    afternoon session

…………………………………………………………………………………. David & Clare Oliver Portrait Workshop Delegates will be transported by coach to David’s new farm and studio in the Hunter Valley. Once there delegates will be lavished with the hospitality of David’s wife Cathy. David and Clare will demonstrate their practical skill with portrait posing and lighting. Peter Eastway Fine Art Landscape Workshop This will be a two part workshop over two days Part 1- Delegates will be transferred by bus to a suitable location where Peter will walk and talk through his process of selecting and anticipating the best location for an iconic landscape then shooting it as it evolves. Part 2- will be on Wednesday in The Event computer lab commencing at 3.30pm.
